I may be a victim of tax fraud. What should I do?

Answer

If you think you are a victim of a tax scam or that you worked with a fraudulent tax preparer, here are a few things you can do:

1. Submit IRS Form 14242 online to report a tax avoidance scheme or a tax return preparer who promoted a tax avoidance scheme. 

2. Mail in IRS Form 14242 along with any supporting documents. 

3. Submit information to the IRS Whistleblower Office.
