I have not filed a tax return for 2020. Can I still claim the Recovery Rebate Credit?

To claim the Recovery Rebate Credit for tax year 2020, you must file your 2020 tax return by May 17, 2024.

You must file your 2021 tax return by April 15, 2025, to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit for the tax year 2021.

You may be eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit if:

• You are a U.S. citizen or a U.S. resident alien in 2020/2021

• You are not listed as a dependent on another taxpayer's tax return

• You have a social security number that was issued before the tax return's due date (May 17, 2020 or April 15, 2021)
